Aug. 2, 2016 – Ferrero Canada is embarking on a $36.1-million expansion project at its Brantford, Ont., facility to add production lines for three additional products and pursue new markets across North America. Expected to be completed by next August, the expansion will create 55 new jobs and retain 831 existing jobs, said the confectionery group.

Brantford is Ferrero International’s only Canadian facility. It currently manufactures and distributes products under the Ferrero Rocher, Nutella, Tic Tac, Kinder Surprise and Raffaello brands.

The project will receive $1.5 million in support from The Southwestern Ontario Development Fund. Established to help foster job creation and business innovation, the fund covers up to 15 per cent of eligible project costs, with the recipient company funding the remainder from its own resources.

“We appreciate the support of the Ontario government and the people of this province. Brantford has proven to be a great manufacturing location for us and a catalyst for us to expand our business and grow our presence in North America,” said a spokesperson for Ferrero Canada.

“We are committed to helping our communities grow and investing in strategic partnerships that bring jobs and prosperity to our province. Our government is pleased to support Ferrero Canada through the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund, which will help the company launch new products and reach new markets,” added Brad Duguid, minister of economic development and growth.
